My experience of participating in the 2-year Sheffield National Crucible led by Sandrine Soubes in 2012-13 is still vivid as I learned so much in a great environment, further making many friends around the University of Sheffield.

Over this competitive programme promoted by NESTA, I took part in interdisciplinary research projects and developed public engagement skills through collaboration, innovation and entrepreneurship. The Crucible activities and interactions greatly boosted my confidence, lay communication and creativity, playing a significant role in my successful transition from a Senior Experimental Officer to a Group Leader/ Lecturer position. Sandrine is moreover a delightful person to interact with. Join her support programme - challenge and fun won't be far away!
